Please note: All Interns Must Be Receiving Academic Credit to Be Considered.

Congressman Perlmutter offers internships throughout the fall, spring and summer semesters for high school or college students. Internships are available in the Congressman’s Washington D.C. or in the district office located in Lakewood, CO. Students have the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a congressional office to supplement their related course work. Students must receive some form of academic credit for their internship. Interns are responsible for working with their academic department and advisors to receive credit and comply with all other internship guidelines set by their educational institution.

Please submit a cover letter and resume if you are interested in an internship. Please submit these materials to Garrett.lukken@mail.house.gov if you would like to intern in our Colorado Office, or to Tia.Bogeljic@mail.house.gov if you would like to intern in our DC office.

Washington, D.C.

In Washington, the hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session. Interns' responsibilities will vary from day to day. They will be asked to research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings answer phones, and help with constituent communications on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.
