Congresswoman Adams' Statement Following a NC Superior Court Judge’s Decision to Halt a North Carolina Law Stripping Governor-Elect Cooper of Executive Powers

Charlotte, NC—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after a North Carolina Superior Court judge temporarily blocked a law passed by the Republican-controlled General Assembly limiting Governor-Elect Cooper’s powers over election boards.

“I applaud the NC Superior Court judge for halting the power grab orchestrated by the Republican led General Assembly and signed into law by Governor McCrory" said Congresswoman Adams. 

"The General Assembly and Governor McCrory have done everything they can to disenfranchise voters and risk free and fair elections in our state. I hope the judge will carefully review the case before him and, ultimately, reign in the dangerous behavior being exhibited by North Carolina Republican leaders."
