I would like to welcome my constituents to come visit beautiful Washington D.C., our nation’s capital. As you plan your trip, please use this page and members of my staff as resources to ensure that your trip here is fun and educational.

Tour Information & Requests Generally

Tours of the many historic locations in Washington D.C. are very popular with constituents who come to our nation’s capital. My staff and I will do whatever we can to help arrange tours, but we cannot guarantee any tour request, because of very high demand. However, your chances of successfully reserving tours are much higher if you can give us at least six weeks notice.

Please keep in mind that the number of visitors in the Washington D.C. area increases dramatically both during the summer months and during the holiday season. As a result, you may wish to request tours for these time periods several months in advance.

Important: If you and your family are interested in a White House tour (as described below) please call us directly at 202.225.2111 to facilitate your request.

Tour Approval

While my office submits tour requests on your behalf, acceptance or denial for a tour is handled completely by the particular venue. All venues offer tours on a first come, first served basis. Many tours fill up very quickly, and allow scheduling as far as six months or one year in advance. In order to maximize your chances of success, please contact us to schedule tours for your trip as early as possible

Tour Notification

We will notify you as soon as we get confirmation of your tour, but we often don’t hear back from everyone until ten to fourteen days in advance of your trip.

Tour Descriptions and Reservation Information

United States Capitol Building Tours

Capitol Building tours are available Monday through Saturday, from 9:00am to 3:20pm. You may request a scheduled tour through my office (see request form) or you may request a tour on your own at: http://visitthecapitol.gov/

House & Senate Gallery Passes

Gallery Passes to both the House and Senate galleries can be requested through our office, by phone, mail, in person or via our online form.

White House Tours

White House tours are generally available Tuesday through Saturday, unless there are other White House functions or holidays. Note that due to very limited capacity and extremely high demand, White House tours fill up quickly. Please call our office at 202.225.2111 if you would like us to begin taking the necessary steps for a White House tour.

Note that White House tours that are requested more than three months in advance have the highest probability of being accomodated. An absolute minimum of 21 days advance notice is required to submit requests.

Important: On September 4, 2009, President Obama announced that visitor access records to the White House Complex will be made publicly available 90-120 days after the date of visit. This policy includes all guests touring the White House. Please be aware that if the White House Visitors Center approves you for a White House tour, your full name and the date of your visit will be part of the publicly released records. Your date of birth, Social Security Number and all other information provided will not be released.

FBI Headquarters Tours

Unfortunately, FBI Headquarters Tours are unavailable until further notice.

Supreme Court Lectures

Supreme Court lectures are available once daily through Congressional offices on scheduled weekdays when the Supreme Court is not hearing oral arguments. In order to request a Supreme Court lecture, arrangements must be made through our office (see request form). Check in is at 1:45pm, and the tour starts promptly at 2:00pm.

Library of Congress Tours

The Library of Congress is open to the public, but special tours are available through my office (see request form). Tours are available at 8:00am, 1:45pm or 3:45pm, from Monday through Friday, subject to availability.

Bureau of Engraving Tours

Tickets for this tour may be requested via our office or in person when in Washington, D.C. by visiting the ticket office at the Bureau. The ticket line usually forms at 7am and further information can be found at: www.moneyfactory.com.

Mount Vernon Tours

Unfortunately, Mount Vernon does not schedule Congressional tours at this time. Visitor information is available at: www.mountvernon.org.

Pentagon:

Tours of the Pentagon are available through their web page at https://pentagontours.osd.mil/. 

Holocaust Museum:

Tickets are available for the day of your visit starting at 10:00 a.m. from the ticket desk of the museum. These tickets are free of charge, and are timed every 15 minutes. There is a limit of four tickets given per person.   You may request VIP tickets from my office (see request form).

National Museum of African American History and Culture:

Like all Smithsonian Museums, the African American History and Culture Museum is free and open to the public every day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, due to the increased interest in this museum's first year, a timed pass system has been instituted. To look into obtaining timed passes, please visit the museum's website.
