Congresswoman Tsongas hosts the first meeting of the
Third Congressional District Veterans Advisory Committee

I am strongly committed to serving the needs of the veterans of our armed forces and their families, and I know how important it is that we treat our men and women in uniform with respect and care. As the daughter of an Air Force Colonel whose childhood and teenage years were spent moving from military base to another, I know how challenging and stressful, yet rewarding, life in the military can be, and I appreciate the contributions, support, and sacrifices made by each and every member of service families. There are more than 450,000 veterans in Massachusetts and they deserve the best this country has to offer. That is why I sought and obtained a seat on the House Armed Services Committee and that is why I have spent the past several years in Congress working to support and protect our service-members and veterans.

District Resources For Veterans

In order to ensure that I am able to stay connected to local veterans, their families, and organizations providing veterans with key services in the Third Congressional District, I created a Veterans Advisory Committee in 2007. I meet regularly with this group and some of the legislative ideas that I have pursued in Congress have been generated or discussed during these helpful and insightful meetings.

If you would like to learn more about the Advisory Committee, or have questions regarding veterans benefits or related matters, please contact my Lowell office at 978.459.0101. A member of my staff is dedicated to serving veterans throughout the 3rd District. Please let my office know how we can assist you, or a veteran you know, when interacting with a Federal agency.

Legislative Initiatives

Words of honor are not enough. It is up to those of us in Washington to honor those who have served with laws that support our service-members, veterans, and their families. I have introduced and sponsored various pieces of legislation that aim to help sevice-members during active duty of when their uniforms come off and they are integrating back into civilian life.
