Internships

Internship Application

Thank you for your interest in serving as an intern in the Office of U.S. Senator Jerry Moran.

An internship in Senator Moran's office provides a unique opportunity to work closely with Senate staff on behalf of the great state of Kansas. Interns witness the workings of the United States Congress from a unique perspective, and develop knowledge and professional skills that will prove to be invaluable in future career pursuits.

The intern program is open to qualified undergraduate and graduate students who have strong interest in public service and government and have achieved academic excellence. While preference is given to Kansas residents, students from all states are encouraged to apply. Internships are available for the fall and spring semesters during the school year, and two internship sessions are available for the summer.

A limited number of internships are available, and the volume of applications received is quite high. As a result, the selection process is very competitive and interested applicants are encouraged to submit their completed application materials as early as possible. To apply, please submit:

  • Resume
  • Cover letter
    • The cover letter should highlight a policy problem before Congress and the applicant's suggested course of action to address the policy problem.
  • Academic transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation
2017 Spring Session – Due October 28, 2016
