Mr. Speaker, I rise today as a member of the State Medicaid Expansion Caucus, and I call on my colleagues to join us in encouraging States to close the coverage gap by expanding Medicaid.

Texas has the option to accept federal Medicaid funding to provide affordable health insurance to more than 1.4 million uninsured Texans.

Too many of our friends and neighbors are being left behind and I call on this chamber to bring up legislation that will increase the minimum wage and renew critical emergency unemployment benefits for those still looking for work.
