Dear Friend,

The 2nd Congressional district is home to 44,333 veterans. Today we pause to honor these men and women who have risked their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We are eternally grateful for their service. Just as the military pledges to leave no soldier behind on the battlefield, we must leave no veteran behind when they return home.

We have a moral obligation to ensure that the VA no longer fails our veterans, create a pathway to a good education, and ensure that there are good jobs available when they return home. We must be veterans’ best advocate, supporter and partner on day one of their civilian life. Action is needed for a clear path forward with big, entrepreneurial and innovative changes to the system of care we provide our veterans – not quick, short-term fixes to systemic issues. We will continue to work in Congress to give proper reverence and gratitude to our vets for their dedication to our American ideals.

My office is available to assist veterans and their families with any questions or concerns that may arise with the VA or the federal government. Below are a list of resources available to veterans and their families:

How can I contact the Department of Veterans Affairs?

How can I get education benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill?

How can I get medical benefits?

How can I get a copy of my military records?

How can I apply for a medal, award, or decoration that I earned while in the service?

Where can I get more information on federal benefits for veterans?

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

John F. Kennedy

Sincerely,

Congressman Cedric Richmond

2nd Congressional District of Louisiana
