Dear Friend,

Tropical Storm Karen is expected to make landfall Saturday night bringing heavy winds and rain. I want you to know that, despite the current federal government shutdown, I have been assured that all federal personnel responsible for disaster preparation and recovery are ready to support us this weekend and with any recovery needs following the storm. Previously-furloughed federal employees necessary to serve functions that protect life and property have been recalled so that the Gulf Coast region isn't left vulnerable in our time of need.

My top priority is to provide as much information as possible to ensure that Louisianans are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to support and prepare your families, homes and businesses.

Please reference this list of emergency contacts for disaster preparedness and recovery efforts.
