July 4, 2013

Dear Friend,

Each year, since our Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, we have held festivities to commemorate our transition from a cluster of subservient colonies to our birth as an independent nation. As we prepare to celebrate July 4th, I encourage you to reflect on the values of freedom and the price that was paid to enjoy our most patriotic day.

Before you gather with your loved ones for a cookout or even to watch fireworks, please take a moment to remember those who have fought to preserve our freedom. It is their sacrifice that allows this nation to continue to endure and thrive. Words can never fully express our gratitude to our veterans and those who are currently serving in uniform. But we can take the time this July 4th, while celebrating our independence as a nation, to say THANK YOU. Let this Independence Day be a day for celebration, remembrance and thanks.

Wishing you and your family a fun, safe and healthy holiday,

Sincerely,

Congressman Cedric Richmond

2nd Congressional District of Louisiana
