Paulsen Announces Application Process for Vacancies on Federal District Court

Washington, D.C.– Following the formation of his judicial selection committee to recommend candidates to fill two vacancies on Minnesota’s federal district court, Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) announced the application process for those interested in being considered for the positions.

Those wishing to be considered for the positions of Judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota should submit a letter of interest and resume between Monday, January 9, 2017 and Wednesday, January 25, 2017 to: 250 Prairie Center Drive, Suite 230, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. Materials may also be emailed to the Committee at mndistrictcourt@mail.house.gov. References will be requested at a later date during the interview process.

Candidates who have already applied to the committee established by Senators Klobuchar and Franken do not need to submit another application to this committee. However, it is permissible for candidates to send in supplemental information to their already-existing application.

“Our state is rich with qualified candidates and I am confident the committee will recommend esteemed individuals who will fairly apply the law to ensure equal treatment for Minnesotans,”said Congressman Erik Paulsen. “I look forward to considering the committee’s findings and welcome a wide pool of applicants from a broad range of personal and professional backgrounds.”

In December, Congressman Paulsen formed the selection committee to review candidates and make recommendations to President-elect Trump for the two vacancies on Minnesota’s federal district court left by Judges Ann Montgomery and Donovan Frank, who decided to assume senior status. The committee is co-chaired by Kathleen Blatz, former Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, and Bert McKasy, of counsel at Lindquist & Vennum, former state representative, and former commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

Congressman Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
