(Pittsburgh, PA) - Today, Congressman Tim Murphy (PA-18) released the following statement:

“As America enters a new era of leadership, this is an exciting time to advance our goals here at home in Southwestern Pennsylvania, across the country, and abroad. Our opportunities are limited only by our imagination and as Congress reconvenes next week, I am singularly focused on getting my crisis mental health reform bill, the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, passed out of the Senate and signed into law.

“Moving into next year and beyond, we have a positive agenda to grow our economy, improve veterans care, strengthen our military, unleash America’s energy potential with clean coal and shale, craft better trade deals to protect our steel and manufacturing industries, and rebuild our nation’s aging infrastructure. Top on my list is transforming our costly and fractured healthcare system. The current model is broken and the root cause of out-of-control costs. We need an effective, affordable patient-centered care model that integrates physical and behavioral medicine. I will bring the same determination and laser-like focus I brought to fixing the broken mental health system to ensure real reform for how we deliver healthcare in the United States.”
