The White House

We are pleased to announce that the White House is open for limited public tours of the East Wing and Executive Residence.

Requests may be submitted to my office up to 6 months in advance and no less than 3 months in advance. Constituents are encouraged to submit their requests as early as possible, as only a limited number of spaces are available. Visitors should call the 24-hour White House Visitors Office information line at 202-456-7041 to determine if any last minute changes have been made in the schedule.

For all groups:

• The White House schedules tours on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Tours are available Tuesday to Saturday between 7:30 am and 1:30 pm. Tours do not take place on Sundays and Mondays. Sometimes, the President's schedule prevents White House tours from happening on a given day.
• Tours are self-guided and last about 45 minutes.
• The White House does not schedule or turn away tours until about two weeks before the dates you request.
• Requesting a tour does not guarantee that one can be scheduled. The White House receives hundreds of requests every day from across the nation to visit a small space. There is no way to prioritize requests.
• The White House Visitors Office will notify you approximately 2 weeks in advance- do not expect a decision before that time frame
• The White House reserves the right to cancel a scheduled tour, and all attendees will be subjected to a background check by the United States Secret Service. If deemed non admittable, the White House reserves the right to deny entry.
• White House tour scheduling is final. If you get a tour and the time or date does not work with your schedule, you will need to request another tour for a later date.
• Please understand that a tour request acceptance or denial is solely at the discretion of the White House Visitors Center. Our office can neither control the day nor time of your White House tour.

For large groups:

You may request a tour for up to 100 guests. This includes every adult and child over six months old. You cannot add more guests to your group at a later date. The larger your group is, the harder it will be for the White House Visitors Office to accommodate everyone, no matter how early you request a tour.

For school groups:

The White House does not schedule tours until about two weeks before the dates you request. For some school districts, this makes it hard to plan transportation and gain approval from the school district for the trip. Unfortunately, this is something that cannot be changed.

For persons with disabilities:

Wheelchairs are available upon request. Please let us know in the comments box below if someone in your group may need a wheelchair during the tour.
