Save the Dream Ohio PUSH
Housing
I firmly believe that every American deserves a warm and secure home. Unfortunately, many homeowners are still having difficulty keeping up with their mortgages. In 2014, Ohio ranked fifth nationally in number of completed foreclosures with 29,000.
I am concerned by the thousands of abandoned and vacant houses in Northeast Ohio. Therefore, I will continue to lead efforts to facilitate the demolition of blighted buildings in Cuyahoga and Summit Counties, so that all residents of Ohio's 11th Congressional District can achieve the American dream of homeownership.
Actions by Rep. Fudge
- Rep. Fudge introduced bipartisan legislation to create a permanent restructuring of the Hardest Hit Funds program. Consequently, the U.S. Department of the Treasury reallocated more than $12 million to OH-11 for demolition purposes.
- Rep. Fudge joined Sens. Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman on a letter to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regarding the process for administering emergency shelter and rapid rehousing assistance to homeless people in Northeast Ohio.
- Rep. Fudge sent a letter to the Department of Justice urging its lead negotiator with Bank of America to ensure that any consumer relief component of their settlement will be effective and robust. Many of the Congresswoman’s suggestions were included in the final settlement.
