From K-12 and beyond, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge wants to provide you with the tools necessary to access a quality education. The following highlight policies and programs from the federal government, non-profit organizations, and other resources to get every student on the road toward academic success.

 
 
The Department of Education (DOE) is an agency within the federal government charged with distributing money to states through grants in order to improve student achievement, school facilities, teacher quality, and more. The DOE also ensures that schools are in compliance with Civil Rights laws in regards to race, class, gender, and orientation. Further, the DOE is the leader in collecting data on America’s schools, which is in turn used to craft policies in Congress to promote achievement for all students. In the 11th Congressional District, our schools have received: 
 
  • Over  $56 million in Title I funds to provide programs, teachers, and supports for students living in poverty
  • Over  $9 million in Title II funds to improve teacher quality through professional development, mentoring, and other supports
  • Over $800,000 in Title III funding to support our Limited English Proficiency students in learning the English language 
  • Over $1 million in 21st Century Community Learning Centers funds to create community learning centers that provide after-school reading and math support for students in high-poverty or low-performing schools
