WASHINGTON— Millennials and their role in the workforce were the focus today as the House Republican Policy Committee (RPC) Taskforce on Millennials hosted its second hearing on Capitol Hill. Its objective was to examine how the millennial generation is shaping America’s economy and the essential role millennials are playing in informing workplace culture and hiring practices. The hearing was hosted by Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee, Luke Messer (IN-06), and was chaired by Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY-21) who heads the RPC’s Taskforce on Millennials.
The U.S. House Republican Policy Committee, under the direction of Indiana congressman Luke Messer, recently held a hearing titled “Millennials and the GOP: Learning from America’s Emerging Leaders to Shape Tomorrow’s Republican Agenda.”
She’s been mistaken for an intern, teased by Paul Ryan for not knowing what “Magnavox” is, and she was a fan of ’90s pop: Rep. Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.), 30, is the voice of Republican millennials.
Stefanik on Tuesday began her duty as chairwoman for the first hearing of the Republican Policy Committee’s Taskforce on Millennials.

House Republican leaders are turning to the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, Rep. Elise Stefanik, to help them try to appeal to millennials in the 2016 elections.
It’s obvious why they are showcasing Stefanik; the 30-year old New York Republican was often mistaken for a congressional aide during her trips around the Capitol at the start of her term. And she has been stopped multiple times by Capitol Police who didn’t realize someone so young could be a member of Congress.
The Rayburn Building room hosting the House Republican Policy Committee hearing Tuesday on “Millennials and the GOP” was fittingly filled with a young audience that documented the event with Snapchat and iPhone photos — though one used a BlackBerry.
Chaired by New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, who turns 31 next week and heads the RPC’s new Millennial Task Force, the hearing was the first in a series aimed at understanding, communicating with and proposing policies for the newest generation of workers (and voters).
