Topline Summary:This bill establishes a clinical care commission to evaluate and recommend solutions regarding better coordinating federal programs related to complex metabolic or autoimmune disorders, a disease resulting from insulin deficiency or resistance, or complications caused by any such disease.

2) H.R. 315 - Improving Access to Maternity Care Act (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill requires the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to collect data to better place maternity health care professionals in existing primary care health professional shortage areas. Currently, maternity health care professionals can participate in the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) but they are not always placed where they are most needed.

3) H.R. 302 - Sports Medicine Licensure Clarity Act of 2017 (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill ensures that sports medicine professionals are properly covered by their malpractice insurance while traveling with athletic teams in another state.

4) H.R. 304 - Protecting Patient Access to Emergency Medications Act of 2017 (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill amends the Controlled Substances Act to ensure that paramedics and other emergency medical services (EMS) professionals are able to continue to administer controlled substances, such as pain narcotics and anti-seizure medications, pursuant to standing or verbal orders when authorized by State law.

5) H.R. 353 - Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act of 2017 (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill improves the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to focus on affordable and attainable advances in observational, computing, and modeling capabilities in an effort to deliver substantial improvement in weather forecasting and prediction of high impact weather events, such as those associated with hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, floods, storm surges, and wildfires.

1) H.R. 79 - HALOS Act (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill amends the Securities Act of 1933 to clarify that certain startup companies are able to give presentations about their company and host certain types of events, like a “demo day,” without violating certain SEC investment solicitation bans.

Topline Summary:This bill requires several federal agencies to coordinate to develop an implementation strategy for the maintenance, purchase, and use of energy-efficient and energy saving information technologies in an attempt to reduce energy consumption at federal government data centers.

2) H.R. 338 - To promote a 21st century energy and manufacturing workforce (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill requires the Secretary of Energy to prioritize education and training for manufacturing and energy-related jobs (both renewable and nonrenewable) in order to increase the number of skilled workers.

3) H.R. 288 - Small Business Broadband Deployment Act  (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill extends the temporary exemption granted to small businesses by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from enhanced disclosure requirements for Internet service providers (ISPs) in the Open Internet Order by five years.

4) H.R. 321 - Inspiring the Next Space Pioneers, Innovators, Researchers, and Explorers (INSPIRE) Women Act (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill requires NASA to develop a plan for facilitating and supporting retired astronauts, scientists, engineers, and innovators to engage with K-12 female STEM students in an attempt to inspire young women to consider participating in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and to pursue careers in aerospace.

5) H.R. 255 - Promoting Women in Entrepreneurship Act (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill authorizes the National Science Foundation (NSF) to encourage its existing entrepreneurial programs to recruit and support women to extend their focus beyond the laboratory and into the commercial world.

6) H.R. 239 - Support for Rapid Innovation Act of 2017 (PDF)

Topline Summary:This bill requires the Under Secretary for Science and Technology (S&T) to support cybersecurity research, development, testing, evaluation and transition and to coordinate those activities with other Federal agencies, industry, and academia.

Topline Summary:This bill directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to engage with innovative and emerging technology developers and firms to address homeland security needs.

Topline Summary:This bill requires the General Services Administration (GSA) to implement regulations allowing federal employees to use alternative transportation options such as Uber, Lyft, and bike-share for official travel.

Topline Summary: This bill authorizes appropriations to operate the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) through 2021 and make changes in some of the agency’s operating procedures.

3) H.R. 78 - SEC Regulatory Accountability Act  (PDF)

Topline Summary: This bill replaces guidance adopted by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2012 that currently governs the use of economic analysis in SEC rulemakings.
