S.39 – No Budget, No Pay Act – Sen. Manchin

Requires the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives to pass a budget and all appropriations bills by the beginning of each fiscal year. Failure to pass these bills would result in the loss of pay until Congress passes these measures in both chambers.

S.315 - Hearing Aid Assitance Tax Credit Act - Sen. Klobuchar

Provides Americans with an important tax credit to help purchase the hearing devices they need.

S.746 - Accelerating the End of Breast Cancer Act of 2015 - Sens. Grassley, Whitehouse, Reed, Collins, Brown, Capito, and Casey

Establishes a “Commission to Accelerate the End of Breast Cancer” to help end breast cancer by 2020.  The commission would identify promising research, encourage partnerships between the public and private sectors, and create opportunities for trans-disciplinary collaboration that may advance the mission of ending breast cancer.

S.842 - Intermountain West Corridor Development Act of 2015 - Sens. Reid, McCain, and Flake

Extends the future Interstate 11 (I-11) through the State of Nevada to Interstate 80 (I-80) and south toward Arizona’s southern border. This will develop critical infrastructure in Nevada, a first step toward long-term job growth and sustainability.

S.330 - Conservation Easement Incentive Act of 2015 – Sen. Stabenow

Provides a permanent enhanced tax incentive to family farmers, ranchers, and other landowners who choose not to develop their land and instead preserve their property for conservation.

S.472 – Douglas County Conservation Act of 2015 – Sen. Reid

Expands recreational opportunities, promotes conservation, and jump-starts economic development in Douglas County, Nevada.

S. 1040 - ROV in-Depth Examination Act - Sen. Manchin

Prevents unnecessary and overburdening regulations on recreational off-highway vehicles put forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

S. 1407 - Public Lands Renewable Energy Development Act - Sens. Heinrich, Risch, and Tester

Simplifies the permitting process for solar, geothermal, and wind projects on public lands.

Military, Veterans

S.151 – Filipino Veterans Promise Act – Sen. Hirono

Establishes a process for all eligible Filipino veterans to receive the compensation they are entitled to for their service to the United States during World War II.

S.296 - Veterans Small Business Opportunity and Protection Act – Sen. Manchin

Helps veteran-owned family businesses to remain eligible for important small business benefits after losing a loved one by:

  • Affording surviving spouses or dependents of service members with a service-connected disability rating of less than 100 percent to have three years of eligibility as a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, which provides more time for the family to transition.
  • Authorizing the Department of Veterans Affairs to treat any business left to a spouse or dependent by a member of the Armed Services killed in the line of duty as a veteran-owned business or a disabled-veteran-owned business for purposes of benefit eligibility for 10 years.
  • Ensuring that surviving spouses or dependents of service members that owned a small business and were killed in action are considered for government contracts. 

S.471 – Women Veterans Access to Quality Care Act – Sen. Murray

Ensures the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) adapts to meet the needs of the expanding female veteran population by:

  • Requiring the VA to establish standards in VA health care facilities to meet the specific needs of women veterans and integrate these standards into prioritization for construction projects.
  • Analyzing women’s health outcomes as a performance measure for VA medical center executives.
  • Requiring every VA medical center to have a full-time obstetrician and/or gynecologist.
  • Improving outreach to veterans by requiring VA to provide state veterans agencies with contact information for veterans.
  • Conducting GAO study of VA’s ability to meet the needs of women veterans and their privacy and security in VA facilities.

S. 1105 - Creating A Reliable Environment for Veterans’ Dependents Act - Sen. Murray

Ensures children of homeless veterans are also eligible for services provided to that veteran by VA-funded facilities.

S. 1203 - 21st Century Veterans Benefits Delivery Act - Sen. Casey

Creates a system that can withstand surges in disability claims without generating another veteran disability claims backlog.

S. 590 - Campus Accountability and Safety Act - Sens. McCaskill, Blumenthal, Grassley, Gillibrand, Ayotte, Warner, Rubio, Capito, Peters, Blunt, and Whitehouse

Professionalizes the response to and reporting of sexual assaults that occur on campuses to better protect and empower students, while also protecting the rights of accused students.

Enhances outdoor recreational opportunities and makes it easier for businesses in the industry to grow and hire.

S. 691 - Nuclear Waste Informed Consent Act – Sen. Reid

Ensures Nevada, and every other state, has a meaningful voice in the process if it is considered for a nuclear waste repository.

S. 1108 - Stanley Cooper Death Benefits for Court Security Officers Act - Sen. Reid

Extends Public Safety Officers’ Benefits to Court Security Officers.
