Jobs and Economic Growth
The national unemployment rate remains high and families and small businesses struggle to make ends meet. The federal government continues placing burdensome regulations on businesses. Many companies hurt by the long-term uncertainty regarding taxes find it difficult to invest in the future or grow their business.
As the Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and a member of the tax-writing Senate Finance Committee, I continue to work to ensure South Dakota’s small businesses are competing in an environment that encourages them to grow and create new jobs. I also believe Congress can do more to ensure the federal programs created to help small businesses are not only successful, but also operate in a manner that is cost effective.
