WASHINGTON – As the House of Representatives takes up debate this week on H.R. 2576, the TSCA Modernization Act, the Blue Dogs announced their endorsement of the legislation.

“A modernized TSCA will restore the public’s confidence in the safety of chemicals in commerce and finally provide the EPA with the authority and tools it needs,” said Co-Chair for Administration Kurt Schrader, a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee. “This updated TSCA will also provide industry with the regulatory certainty it needs so that manufacturers can continue to provide good paying American jobs, create innovative new products and enhance the nation’s position as a global leader. This legislation is a great example of what Congress can accomplish when we work together and compromise, and as Blue Dogs we will continue to work across the aisle to get things done.”

This bipartisan-bicameral compromise boasts the support of broad spectrum of stakeholders that includes environmental, industry, public health, labor and business groups. The original Blue Dog-Endorsed TSCA passed in the House by a vote of 398-1.
