Press Release

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Jim Costa (CA-16), Blue Dog Coalition Co-Chair for Outreach and Communications, released the following statement on passage of legislation by the House of Representatives to approve construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline.  The legislation passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 266-153.

“Construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline is long overdue, and I urge the President to support the bipartisan legislation” said Congressman Costa.  “Just today, the Nebraska courts paved the way for this infrastructure and energy project.  The Blue Dog Coalition supports an ‘all of the above’ energy strategy, and that includes this project.  We look forward to Senate action on this matter, and we will continue to work with members on both sides of the aisle to advance legislation, like Keystone, that is in the best interest of the country.”

On Thursday, the Co-Chairs of the Blue Dog Coalition sent a letter to President Barack Obama urging him to support legislation that expedites approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Just today, the Nebraska Supreme Court removed a final legal obstacle for the project, placing the decision back in the hands of the White House.
