Congressman John Conyers

Representing the 13th District of Michigan

Veterans

The service and bravery of our veterans must be reflected in the support we provide them after they return home.  I strongly believe that the men and women who have fought for our freedoms deserve access to quality healthcare, job opportunities, and affordable housing.

I have been an active fighter for veterans and am committed to ensuring they have ample resources to transition smoothly into civilian life.  In 2013, I cosponsored the Veteran’s Mental Health Accessibility Act which aimed to eliminate the five year window in which Veterans must seek treatment for mental illnesses.  I also helped promote Obama’s  proposals to expand job opportunities for veterans.

As a veteran of the Korean War, I understand the issues that our soldiers face and am committed to their health and success.
