Statement from Congressman Chris Collins on the Passage of the Veteran Access to Care Act of 2014

Jun 10, 2014
Press Release

“The Veteran Access to Care Act is an important step toward fixing the ongoing problems some veterans face in accessing healthcare from the VA. I am pleased the House came together in a bipartisan way to advance a solution to ensure our veterans receive the care they need, when they need it. Congress must also continue to hold the Administration accountable for fixing the systemic problems that plague the VA’s bloated bureaucracy at the expense of service to our nation’s heroes.”

The Veteran Access to Care Act of 2014 allows for veterans who have experienced extensive wait times or who live over 40 miles from a VA facility to receive non-VA care, The legislation also suspends bonuses for all VA employees for the next two years.
