Statement from Congressman Chris Collins Following the Release of the VA Inspector General Report Regarding Patient Wait Times at the Phoenix VA

The interim report released today by the VA Inspector General confirms what many of us in Congress have been saying for some time: the VA is fundamentally mismanaged and is failing miserably in its mission to honorably serve America's veterans.  For well over a year now, I have been calling on VA Secretary Shinseki to resign.  It is clear that he is not leading the VA in a way that forces accountability to fix these critical problems and improve service.  Instead, what we have, in too many cases, is a bunch of bureaucrats in both Washington and in local facilities across the country who seem content to collect a paycheck and not serve the public.  It is my hope that this report will be a wake call for those in Washington who continue to defend the status-quo at the VA.
