President of Ontario County Business to Testify at Congressional Hearing

The President of Ontario County’s Commodore Plastics will testify before the House Small Business Committee on Wednesday.  Brad Braddon will participate in a hearing entitled Made in the USA: Stories of American Manufacturers.  The purpose of the hearing is to highlight the reemergence and accomplishments of small American manufacturers.  Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) is a member of the House Small Business Committee and invited Braddon to testify on behalf of manufacturers in New York’s 27th Congressional District.

 

“This week marks National Small Business Week, a time to acknowledge the contributions American small business owners and their employees make to our local communities and national economy,” said Collins.  “America’s small businesses, like Commodore Plastics and Commodore Technology are the engines of job creation, employing about half of all private sector workers.”

 

“As a small business owner myself, I understand firsthand the challenges and hurdles business owners face on a day-to-day basis,” said Collins.   “I think it is important members of Congress hear directly from Brad and his business peers about what Washington must do to create the right kind of economic environment for small businesses to grow and hire more people.” 

 

Mr. Braddon is the President of Commodore Plastics and its sister company Commodore Technology, both located in Bloomfield, NY.  Commodore is a family owned and operated business, started by Mr. Braddon’s father George in 1981.  As a manufacturer of foam meat trays for supermarkets and food processors, Commodore Plastics employs 150 people and services approximately 4% of the US market for meat trays.  Commodore Technology makes all the equipment Commodore Plastics uses and also sells this technology to vendors around the globe.  Commodore Technology employs approximately 30 people.

This week marks the 50th annual National Small Business Week, a federally recognized time to celebrate the contributions of America’s early 30 million small businesses.
