“First responders are an integral part of the safety of any community,” said Congressman Collins. “The selfless service local fire departments provide is immeasurable.  It is vital these local fire companies have the tools and resources they need to keep their members safe and effectively protect our community. Federal grants play a critical role in accomplishing those goals. I look forward to working with our local fire departments to provide the necessary help they need in applying for these grants.”

“We must ensure that our first responders who are on the frontlines have the most up-to-date equipment they need during emergency situations,” said Senator Gillibrand. “The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program allows our communities to invest in critical resources that will help keep firefighters safe and carry out their lifesaving work more effectively. We must make sure our local fire departments have every resource necessary to keep our communities safe.”
