More Obamacare Fallout: 17,000 in Rochester to Face Insurance Increases and Possible Plan Cancellations

Sep 16, 2014
Press Release

Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) today released the following statement after a Democrat and Chronicle report that MVP Health Care is dropping two of its five Medicare Advantage plans. As a result, subscribers will face, on average, a 44.8 percent increase in premiums. The changes will impact approximately 17,000 Rochester-area subscribers and 19,800 people across the state.

“The negative effects of Obamacare are once again impacting individuals and their families,” said Congressman Collins. “The dramatic premium increases and cancelled coverages are going to continue because, simply put, the President’s law does not work. It is burdensome on consumers and businesses, harmful to seniors, and unfortunately, we are just beginning to see the full extent of its negative consequences. It is time to repeal and replace this flawed legislation with a flexible and patient-centered solution.”
