Congressman Chris Collins Responds to President's Gun Control Proposals

"As a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, I am very concerned about the President’s proposals.  My father taught me the lessons of responsible gun ownership and I know that is a story shared by many NY-27 residents and gun owners all across America.  It is not the job of the federal government to tell responsible gun owners how to live their lives nor is it the job of the federal government to dictate gun control legislation down onto the states.

The administration should not force through gun control legislation that tramples the rights of responsible gun owners as an emotional reaction to recent tragedies.  The proposals being advanced today by the President would have done nothing to prevent the massacre in Newtown, CT or the ambush in Webster, NY."
