Congressman Chris Collins Invites Students & Parents to Military Academy Information Night

Sep 17, 2013
Press Release
Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) announced today that there will be an information night for local high school students interested in applying to a U.S. Military Academy.  Parents and guardians are also encouraged to attend.  Representatives from each of the academies will brief attendees on the nomination process, provide information on the academies, and be available to answer any questions.

“As a Member of Congress, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of students to U.S. Military Academies each year,” said Congressman Collins.  “The ability to offer a nomination to an individual seeking an appointment is one that I take very seriously and I encourage local students with a possible interest in serving their country and receiving a college education from one of these elite academies to attend this information session.”

The information night is scheduled for:
Thursday, September 26, 2013
6:30 PM
Geneseo High School
4050 Avon Road
Geneseo, NY  14454

Collins has the ability to nominate students to the U.S. Military Academy at West Post, the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY.  The U.S. Coast Guard Academy determines acceptance through its own testing criteria.

The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. For more information, please visit www.chriscollins.house.gov or call Collins’ Lancaster District Office at
(716) 634-2324.

Collins will hold a second information night in Clarence, NY on Monday, October 7, 2013.
