Apr 11, 2016
Press Release

Congressman Chris Collins today released the following statement announcing the winner, runner up, and honorable mentions of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. Congressman Collins joined participating NY-27 students this past Saturday, April 9th at the Roz Steiner Art Gallery at Genesee Community College for a brief reception before announcing this year’s winner.

“The Congressional Art Competition is the perfect opportunity to see firsthand the qualities of creativity and originality that our local high school artists demonstrate in their artwork,” said Collins.  “While all of our 85 contestants submitted outstanding pieces of art, Angelina Miconi, from Batavia High School, was selected as the winner of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. I look forward to welcoming Angelina and her family to Washington D.C. to see her artwork displayed proudly in the halls of the U.S. Capitol Building.”

This year’s Congressional Art Competition displayed the artwork of 85 NY-27 high school students in the Roz Steiner Art Gallery at Genesee Community College. The 2016 winner, Angelina Miconi, will receive a round trip flight to Washington, D.C. and will join hundreds of high school artists nationwide to see their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
