Congressman Chris Collins Recognizes Pike Man as ‘Veteran of the Month’

Oct 12, 2016
Press Release

Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) today released the following statement recognizing United States Air Force Veteran, Frank Fraser, of Pike, as New York’s 27th Congressional District’s ‘Veteran of the Month’ for October. The ‘Veteran of the Month’ is a new program established by Congressman Collins’ office to recognize the dedication and service of NY-27’s veterans.

“I was honored to recognize Frank, a true patriot and valued member of the Wyoming County community, as our office’s Veteran of the Month,” said Congressman Collins. “Frank has spent his entire life devoted to serving his country and his fellow citizens, and it was a privilege to join the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors to recognize Frank for his commendable service. My office will continue to recognize a local ‘Veteran of the Month’ as a small thank you to the thousands of Western New York veterans who have selflessly served our country.”

Frank Fraser was a member of the United States National Guard in high school and served in the United States Air Force from June, 1957 to January, 1961. After completing both basic training and advanced training in avionics, Frank received orders to report to RAF Sculthorpe England. While there, he traveled throughout the country on special duty assignments working on a variety of tactical fighter aircraft. After receiving an Honorable Discharge at the conclusion of his service, Frank was recognized with the Good Conduct Medal. After returning home, Frank’s work ethic kept him actively involved in his community, working as a counselor for the Office of Training and Employment Opportunity in Wyoming County and later as a vocational teacher at the Groveland Correctional Facility. Frank also helped launch the Wyoming County transit bus service and has remained an active supporter of veteran issues for decades.

Congressman Collins joined Frank’s family, fellow Wyoming County residents, and members of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors at their monthly meeting where Frank was presented with a Congressional Certificate of Commendation and a flag flown over the United States Capitol Building. Mr. Fraser was presented this recognition on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.
