Congressman Chris Collins Helps Secure $60,347 Grant for Honeoye Falls Mendon Volunteer Ambulance

Congressman Chris Collins today announced $60,347 in federal funding for Honeoye Falls Mendon Volunteer Ambulance. The grant was allocated through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG), which is designed to help first responders improve their capability to respond to fires and emergencies of all types.

“Providing the necessary funding for our first responders is an excellent and prudent use of federal money,” said Congressman Chris Collins. “Our local heroes need the proper resources to do their jobs and protect our communities. Many small fire companies are unable to purchase necessary equipment upgrades due to financial limitations. This grant will help alleviate that financial burden, and I am proud I was able to help them secure this money.”

“The Village of Honeoye Falls appreciates the opportunity to be awarded (via the Honeoye Falls-Mendon Volunteer Ambulance Department) $60,364.00 for the purchase of two Power Lift Cots/Stretcher Fastener Systems,  through a FEMA Grant (EMW-2014-FO-03034) supported by the Honorable Senator Schumer and Honorable Congressman Chris Collins,” said Rick Milne, Honeoye Falls Mayor. “This fastening system will be utilized on the two Ambulances currently in service in the Honeoye Falls-Mendon community.” 

“As it is very difficult for a small community to budget and save the amount of funding required for necessary purchases such as this.  We appreciate the support provided by Senator Schumer and Congressman Collins.  This funding will not only support the Honeoye Falls-Mendon Volunteer Ambulance and assist their membership in providing safe, timely medical support; but this funding will also provide timely assistance to the tax-payers of the Village of Honeoye Falls and the Town of Mendon effectively eliminating the need to pay for this equipment through the tax base.”
