Congressman Chris Collins Helps Secure $254,935 Grant for Akron Airport

Congressman Chris Collins today announced $254,935 in federal funding from the Federal Aviation Administration for Akron Airport. The grant will support the acquisition of new snow removal equipment, which will enhance the airport's ability to clear the airfield during adverse weather conditions. It will also fund the acquisition of approximately 2.53 acres of land that is needed for future airport development.

“Supporting local governments by maintaining, repairing, and building critical infrastructure is a beneficial use of federal tax dollars,” said Congressman Collins.  “Providing Akron Airport the additional equipment for snow removal will allow for more efficient and safer airport operations. Continued investment in local infrastructure is necessary to ensure that valuable economic assets like Akron Airport can continue to grow and successfully operate.”

The Congressman’s office remains available to assist any local government pursuing a federal grant.
