Congressman Chris Collins Announces $182,378 for Dansville Fire Department

Jul 9, 2015
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) today announced $182,378 in federal funding for Dansville Fire Department located in Livingston County. The grant was allocated through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG), which is designed to help first responders improve their capability to respond to fires and emergencies of all types.

“Providing the necessary funding for our first responders is an excellent and prudent use of federal money,” said Congressman Chris Collins. “Our local heroes need the proper resources to do their jobs and protect our communities. This funding will provide Dansville Fire Department with vital equipment upgrades creating more efficient and effective first responders. I am honored to help Dansville Fire Department secure this federal grant.”

“This grant comes at a great time for us and we are extremely excited to be awarded the grant,” said Gregory Horr, Dansville Fire Department Chief. “We are currently in need of replacing our turnout gear and rescue tools, which would take years to accomplish, due to the financial constraints placed upon our village government.  This grant will allow us to update this necessary equipment in a short period of time, and allow us to continue to provide a high level of service to our community.”

The grant will replace the Dansville Fire Department’s vehicle extrication equipment, rope rescue equipment, 50 sets of turn out gear, and personnel bailout systems.
