Coalition for Medicare Choices Thanks Congressman Chris Collins for Fighting to Protect Medicare Advantage

Press Release

The Coalition for Medicare Choices publicly thanked Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) today for fighting to protect Medicare Advantage.  Collins strongly opposed the 5.9 percent rate cut the Obama administration proposed in February of this year.

More than 1.1 million seniors and people with disabilities rely on Medicare Advantage in New York.  The Coalition for Medicare Choices notes that the “estimated 5.9 percent cut proposed in February would have resulted in increased costs, reduced benefits, and fewer coverage options for seniors enrolled in the program.”

“While we were able to beat this rate cut down in a bipartisan way, unfortunately Medicare Advantage is still a target for future cuts,” said Congressman Collins.  “It is no secret that the Obama administration is banking on cuts to Medicare Advantage to fund the expansion of Medicaid through ObamaCare.  Our seniors deserve better and I will continue to fight to preserve and protectMedicare Advantage.”

A national grassroots organization, the Coalition for Medicare Choices has more than 111,000 members in New York.  Founded in 1999, the Coalition has more than 1.5 million members nationwide.
