Brown & Collins Push ECIDA to Keep Delaware North in Buffalo

Buffalo Mayor Bryon Brown and Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) have co-signed a letter urging the Erie County Industrial Development Agency (ECIDA) to do what is necessary to keep Delaware North headquartered in downtown Buffalo. In their letter to the ECIDA, Brown and Collins stress the importance of maintaining both a significant employer and a world-headquartered corporation in downtown Buffalo.

"Delaware North currently employs over 350 people at its HQ in downtown Buffalo and their plan to hire an additional 65 employees over the next several years will continue the tremendous growth and progress taking place in the City of Buffalo,” said Mayor Byron Brown

“Delaware North is a global corporation that could be headquartered anywhere,” said Congressman Collins. “Local leaders and the ECIDA must work together to support companies like Delaware North stay and grow in Western New York for the betterment of our entire community.”

In their letter, dated today, Brown and Collins write:

While there is a tradition of Delaware North maintaining its headquarters in downtown Buffalo, the economic development community cannot rely upon tradition alone – the decision must make business sense for Delaware North. Tax incentives offered by the ECIDA speak to the business case for maintaining a headquarters in our region. The tax incentives make Buffalo and Erie County more competitive against the thousands of municipalities across the country that offer similar business opportunities for Delaware North.

Brown and Collins stress they remain available to help the ECIDA craft a solution that protects both taxpayer dollars and ensures Delaware North remains headquartered in Buffalo for years to come.
