America was founded on a radical idea that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights including the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Put simply: these rights come from God and can’t be given or taken away by the government. Yet, too many in our government today seem to have forgotten that. That’s why I have fought to ensure the sanctity of human life, protect the Second Amendment, maintain our privacy and civil liberties, and preserve our religious freedom from unwarranted government infringement.

WASHINGTON—This week, Congressman Luke Messer (IN-06) introduced bipartisan legislation, the Article V Records Transparency Act (H.R. 5306), to ensure states are able to exercise their authority under Article V of the Constitution by restructuring the recordkeeping process of Article V applications.

The rule significantly expands the scope of Federal jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act (CWA) and undermines the role of states as partners and co-regulators of the nation’s waterways.

Every once in a while Washington gets it right. Last week Congress passed, and I voted for, the USA Freedom Act—the most sweeping reform to our intelligence gathering system since 9/11. And, while the bill certainly isn’t perfect, it is a common-sense solution that keeps America safe and protects individual liberty, too.

I have a radical idea.
Let’s let parents choose where to send their kids to school.
Let’s make it easier for them to save for their children’s education.
Let's give every kid in America access to a great school.
Our current education system works for many.
But it is failing too many others.
Today, I introduced a bill to change that.
It's been a wild couple of weeks in Washington for the separation of powers.
First, Speaker John Boehner announced that the House plans to sue the president for violating his oath of office by failing to enforce the law and making his own laws without the consent of Congress. Next, the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that the president violated the Constitution by making illegal appointments to a federal labor board.
For many Americans, the Fourth of July will pass with little reflection on its historic significance. We’ll spend time with family and enjoy great food without really considering the underlying events that are the reason for our celebration.
That’s a shame because July 4, 1776, was a day for the ages. By renouncing their allegiance to the King of England and proclaiming the birth of a new nation, the brave signers of the Declaration of Independence started a chain of events that literally changed the world.
