Foreign Affairs
As a former member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, I have had a unique opportunity to study our Nation’s foreign policies and interact with Administration officials, foreign dignitaries, and some of the most respected academics in the field of international relations. I am strongly committed to protecting U.S. national security interests, promoting democratic principles and safe-guarding human rights in order to strengthen our standing in the world. Foreign aid is an important means of advancing these interests. In addition, strategic investments in economic growth, the rule of law, and trade development programs can help create jobs by opening new markets for American businesses. There are still too many foreign aid programs that are poorly managed, duplicative, and wasteful. We need comprehensive foreign aid reform to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly and efficiently. I will continue to work with my colleagues on legislative measures that further protect our Nation’s interests abroad and protect tax payer dollars.

WASHINGTON (Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016) — Rep. Luke Messer (IN-06) issued the following statement today applauding the U.S.
Zika Virus is “a bit scarier than we initially thought.” That was the warning from a Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention spokesperson during a White House briefing this week. It was a pretty unsettling update that made headlines across the country, and for good reason. The virus, which is typically spread by mosquitos, started to move quickly through Brazil last May. Since then, thousands of people in dozens of countries have been infected by Zika, including residents of both Indiana and Ohio who contracted the virus overseas.

WASHINGTON—Congressman Luke Messer (IN-06) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 3461, to Approve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, signed at Vienna on July 14, 2015, relating to the nuclear program of Iran:
WASHINGTON— Today, Congressman Luke Messer (IN-06) voted for, and the House passed, what’s known as the Pompeo-Zeldin Resolution. This resolution asserts that the President did not submit all elements of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, also known as the Iran nuclear agreement, to Congress for review. Therefore, the 60-day congressional review of the agreement has not yet started.
At this point, the Obama Administration’s claim that the Iran Nuclear Deal is “a very good deal” would be laughable if it didn’t have such serious and potentially deadly consequences. The details released by the Associated Press (AP) last month of a secret side deal between Iran and the IAEA should be enough to end this whole charade.
