Immigration

The benefits of immigration reform are many. Immigration reform will encourage the world’s best and brightest to build their businesses here by providing “startup” visas for foreign entrepreneurs and increasing the number of H-1B visas for STEM graduates. In doing so, immigration reform will increase the earnings of all Americans by $470 billion and generate 1.2 million new jobs. Comprehensive immigration reform will also add $1.4 trillion to GDP over the next 10 years and cut deficits by $175 billion. And by making sure these immigrants are paying their full and fair share of taxes, we will bring in an additional $140 billion in new revenue over the next 10 years. This money can go towards improving our schools, investing in infrastructure projects that create jobs, and extending the solvency of Medicare.

The Senate passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill that will help businesses grow, keep families together, and better secure our national borders. It is time for House Leadership to bring that bill up for a vote.
