Congressmen Gibbs and Joyce Urge Army Corps to Protect Lake Erie
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Gibbs and Congressman Joyce released the following joint statement after sending Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, Jo-Ellen Darcy, a letter on the maintenance of the Cuyahoga River, Cleveland Harbor, and Lake Erie.
Congressman Bob Gibbs OH-7:
“The Cuyahoga River and Cleveland Harbor are vital to Ohio’s economy and funds are available for the Army Corps of Engineers to get the job done. The Army Corps needs to fulfill their federal responsibility and work with the state of Ohio and the Port of Cleveland on an alternative dredging plan.”
Congressman David Joyce OH-14:
“It’s time for the Army Corps to get some new lawyers. They have the money, they have the authority, they have the directive, and they have the responsibility to do this. This is as crystal clear as the water on Lake Erie should be.”
