Esty Statement upon Being Sworn-In to 115th Congress

January 3, 2017
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) today issued the following statement after she was officially sworn in as a Member of the 115th United States Congress:

“It’s an incredible honor to represent my neighbors for the next two years in Congress, and I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work on behalf of the people of central and northwest Connecticut. There are big challenges ahead of us, but I know that if we put politics aside and work together, there’s no limit to what we can accomplish.

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned serving the 41 wonderful towns and cities of central and northwest Connecticut over the last four years, it’s that the letter after your name – whether it’s a ‘D,’ an ‘R,’ or anything else – doesn’t matter. What matters is whether we can get things done and find solutions to the problems the American people are facing. That’s my mission these next two years. I’m ready to work hard for bipartisan solutions that will expand economic opportunity, improve our schools, protect our environment, and keep our families safe.”

This is Esty’s third term serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.
