Health & Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius came to the Hill today to testify before the Energy & Commerce Committee on the glitch-riddled ObamaCare website. As Secretary Sebelius defended her and her team's work on the website, Healthcare.gov was "down at the moment" due to "technical difficulties." Secretary Sebelius was dismissive of this blatant malfunction. At one point, she even stated, "The website never crashed. It is functional at a very low speed." Perhaps she should take a look at the video below or even just go to the website herself.

โ€œA thoughtful, consistent advocate for military members and their families, Congressman DesJarlais is a welcome addition to the House Armed Services Committee,โ€ said Chairman Mac Thornberry. โ€œHe brings a wealth of experience from the Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as strong conviction that American leadership is the linchpin of global security. I look forward to working with him to ensure our military is properly funded, spending its resources wisely, and above all prepared to respond to rising threats around the world.โ€

The Volunteer State has a proud military tradition, and Tennesseeโ€™s Fourth District lies at the center of the Aerospace and Defense Technology Corridor that includes Fort Campbell, Redstone Arsenal, Arnold Air Force Base, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Iโ€™m honored to serve the patriotic men and women who call our district home, and eager to get to work in the new Congress, in partnership with a new Administration, on the most urgent security matters facing the United States.

"The Armed Services Committee has a unique and solemn role in Congress' first responsibility, which is defending the country. I am grateful that these Members are willing to dedicate their talents to rebuilding and reforming America's Military," Thor

My heart goes out to victims of arson, and Iโ€™m eager to see a full review of the disaster and response, including any breach of policy. To improve federal policy, my responsibility on the House Agriculture Committee, I voted for a bill to better identify and manage high-risk zones, as well as to dedicate more public resources to the effort, in order to protect communities like Gatlinburg.

Tennessee congressmen will await the findings of a review by the National Park Service about how officials with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park handled a fire that eventually swept into Gatlinburg.

Only the worst of the worst jihadists remain in Guantanamo. Many of the released detainees return to terrorism. Most of the 9/11 attackers were from Saudi Arabia! This President is inflicting as much damage as possible before leaving office, again putting politics ahead of the safety and security of the American people. A new Commander-in-Chief couldnโ€™t come soon enough.

Four Gitmo detainees are slated to be transferred to Saudi Arabia in the next 24 hours, the first of the final wave of up to 20 transfers expected before Inauguration Day, two U.S. officials tell Fox News.

Last night, I voted on the Midnight Rules Relief Act to stop lame-duck Presidents from implementing last-minute regulations. This would be an important step in ensuring the American people have a say in harmful rules and regulations that cost our economy billions of dollars every year.

Congressman Scott Desjarlais voted on Wednesday for the Midnight Rules Relief Act, legislation to prevent last-minute regulations from the outgoing Obama Administration from taking effect. The bill, which the Senate will now consider, amends the Congressional Review Act to allow Congress to override...

As this young woman discovered, an Obamacare plan is just an expensive piece of paper. Ironically, to solve her chronic medical problem, she negotiated directly with a health care provider in the private market, where competition and price transparency drive down costs. But she's still paying high premiums for Obamacare. Imagine the savings, if we simply repealed the failing law.

Iโ€™m paying for an insurance plan that doesnโ€™t cover the doctors I need to seeโ€”and I end up paying for most costs out of pocket anyway.

Today, the first day of the new Congress, weโ€™re working on improving veterans health care. To fix persistent problems at the Veterans Administration, Iโ€™ll vote for my Tennessee colleague Dr. Phil Roe's bill to ensure the safety of inventory at VA hospitals and another to enforce discipline in the dysfunctional bureaucracy. With a new President in office, Iโ€™m confident change will finally come to an institution that has failed too many in the Volunteer State.

Washington is bracing for a year of breakneck change as President-elect Trump and a new Congress take office with a jam-packed agenda ahead. Look, I can tell you what I got out of Donald Trump today is, this is a man of action, said House Speaker Paul Ryan after a post-election meeting. He is readyโ€ฆ

Secretary Kerry's inaction in the recent UN vote and comments today regarding Israel are indicative of an administration that has systematically lacked the strength and fortitude to support one of our nations greatest allies. I look forward to working with President-elect Trump to mitigate the damages the Obama Administration has created and to strengthen our relationship with Israel along with all our foreign allies.

Kerry said Israel's long-term security depends on a peace agreement with Palestinians.

According to the Federal Registry, President Obama holds the all-time highest record for the daily depository of rules and regulations. He averages well over a 1,000 pages a week and has exceeded over 81,000 pages for the 2016 calendar year thus far. Over the last eight years Obama has held seven out the 10 highest Federal Registry page counts for rules and regulations. Every year, over-regulation costs our economy $2 trillion dollars. I am looking forward to 2017 and working with my fellow colleagues and a unified Republican majority to end wasteful and unnecessary regulation.

President Barack Obamaโ€™s Federal Register, the daily depository of rules and regulations, added 572 pages today, and stands at 81,640 pages for 2016.
