This week I was proudly took my oath of office and was sworn into the 115th Congress to continue to serve and represent the great people of the 32nd Congressional District. It has been a busy week on Capitol Hillstarting with the passage of the Rules Package for the 115th Congress, voting on important measures to restore responsible regulations, adopting a resolution to condemn the United Nations’ anti-Israel resolution, and ending with a joint session of Congress to confirm Donald J. Trump as President and Mike Pence as Vice President of the United States. I am excited to begin this year with our new unified government and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House and the Senate as well as our new President to make America great again.

Laying the Framework for the 115th Congress
This week the House passed House Resolution 5,to adopt the rules for the 115th Congress, which lays the foundation for our work ahead while building upon our continued efforts to increase transparency, improve accountability, and streamline House processes.

As we begin the 115th Congress we know that have an important job to do, and now more than ever it is critical that we hit the ground running and get to work on behalf of the American people. I proudly brought this important measure to the House floor to provide Members on both sides of the aisle the tools necessary to represent their constituents with fairness, openness, and integrity. Restoring Responsible Regulations and Congressional Oversight
It is no secret that the Obama Administration has played a heavy hand in doling out thousands upon thousands of regulations that have cost American taxpayers billions of dollars. That is why we are hitting the ground running this Congress by rolling back the president’s regulatory agenda and providing American small businesses and families with the relief that they desperately need. While we still have a lot of work to do, the passage of the REINS Act lays the ground work for our regulatory overhaul that will unburden the free market from the arbitrary and unnecessary grip of federal bureaucrats.

Standing With Israel
In December the United Nations passed a resolution that completely undermines any future potential of a bilateral agreement between Israel and Palestine. Since 1972 the United States has defended the people of Israel and vetoed 42 anti-Israel resolutions. The Obama Administration’s failure to veto this measure violates our longstanding policy to protect Israel from such one-sided resolutions.

I have always stood with our friends in Israel and I will continue to fight to ensure we preserve and protect our precious relationship with them. Thankfully come January 20th we will have a unified Republican government and someone in the White House who will join Republicans in the House and Senate in reaffirming our commitment to the people of Israel.
