Agriculture

Agriculture is a vital part of the Fifth District's past, present and future. Currently, there are over 6,000 farms on more than 1.3 million acres of land in the District. From soybeans, to cotton, to poultry, a multitude of crops and livestock are raised on the fertile farmlands of the area.

As our population continues to grow, maintaining our nation's food supply and agricultural base becomes increasingly important. With this in mind, we must continue to look out for the concerns of farmers. The ability for farmers to grow their crops and raise livestock free of over-burdensome federal regulations and taxes must be maintained.
