Transportation

Our national transportation infrastructure is the backbone of the American economy. Our transportation systems allow commuters to get to work and businesses to get their goods to market, but our infrastructure is outdated and in dire need of mondernization. Pennsylvania has the largest number of structurally-deficient bridges in the nation, over 6,000. We need to ensure taxpayer dollars are supporting infrastructure projects in a responsible, efficient manner.

I'm particularly focused on supporting vital infrastructure projects in our region specifically, including the expansion of Philadelphia International Airport, the deepening of the Delaware River's shipping channel, and the revitalization of the Delaware River oil refineries. 

I'm proud to serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. In the 113th Congress, my colleagues and I will focus on ways we can improve our country's transportation systems, including the reauthorization of federal passenger and freight rail safety programs. 

I'm particularly proud that this year, Congress was able to pass groundbreaking bipartisan legislation to strengthen the development of our water resources. Our ports, waterways, locks and dams are vital to our economic vitality, and this legislation streamlines modernization projects and eliminates red tape. Passed with bipartisan majorities in both houses of Congress, it's an all-too-rare achievement in Washington that means more jobs for Ameicans.
