App Challenge

Does your high school-aged son or daughter have a cool idea for a Smartphone App that doesn't currently exist?  If so, I invite them to participate in the Congressional App Challenge, a competitive competition that allows high school students in my congressional district to create and submit their own app ideas for display in the U.S. Capitol Building.  

With a rapidly changing economy - both technologically and structurally - it's important that we instill in our youth the values of creativity, hard work and entrepreneurship.  These critical life skills are essential in creating a strong, robust economy.  This competition allows students to do just that, by tapping into their innovative minds and introducing them to the important world of coding.

The Congressional App Challenge will run from November 9, 2015, through January 15, 2016, with competitors judged by an appointed panel of professionals within the academic, software and entrepreneurial fields.  The winning student’s app in each participating congressional district will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ website, as well as displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building.
