U.S. Representative Rob Woodall (GA 07) issued the following statement with regard to the U.S. House and Presidential election results.

(Washington, DC) – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5303, the “Water Resources Development Act of 2016 (WRDA)” addressing the needs of America’s ports, dams, flood protection, and other water resources infrastructure. The legislation builds upon the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014 (WRRDA), restoring the two-year cycle of authorizing water policy and equipping the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers with the tools needed to move forward on billions of dollars’ worth of water projects – including ongoing expansion of the Savannah Harbor and feasibility studies for the Port of Brunswick. Seventh District Representative Rob Woodall serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee responsible for crafting the bill, and successfully led the measure through the House, managing debate for its consideration.

(Washington, DC) – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed bipartisan legislation introduced in March by U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA) and Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) to provide new choices for those receiving official documentation regarding their immigration status from United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

(Washington, D.C.) – This week, both the House and Senate cleared a bipartisan agreement to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through September 2017, and the measure is expected to be signed into law by the President today. The legislation is an extension of operational funding without increasing federal spending, and enacts long-term policy reforms to strengthen national security, improve air travel for persons with disabilities, shorten wait times, and among other things, require airlines to reimburse passengers with lost luggage.

(Washington, D.C.) – As a result of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act signed into law last year, the Port of Savannah will receive $44,000,000 for reconfiguration and improvement of its on-dock container transfer facilities to bring rail switching activities inside the Port. The funds were awarded through the Nationally Significant Freight and Highway Projects (NSFHP) Program, which established a competitive grant program known as Fostering Advancements in Shipping and Transportation for the Long-Term Achievement of National Efficiencies (FASTLANE).

Rob Woodall (GA 07) issued the following statement after supporting House passage of H.R. 5293, the “Department of Defense Appropriations Act.” The most recent of the annual appropriations bills to clear the House, H.R. 5293 provides $575.8 billion in total discretionary budget authority for the Department of Defense for fiscal year (FY) 2017, and includes military personnel, operation and maintenance, procurement, and research provisions.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall (GA 07) voted in support of H.R. 5053, the “Preventing IRS Abuse and Protecting Free Speech Act,” as it was approved by the House of Representatives. The bill would eliminate the Schedule B requirement that non-profit, tax-exempt organizations disclosure personal donor information, and reassert the right of individual Americans to support the organizations of their choice without fear of retaliation by the Internal Revenue Service.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4974, the “Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act,” marking the first of the FY2017 appropriations season. The legislation prioritizes combatant command needs while increasing discretionary spending for veterans by 3% from FY2016. Rep. Rob Woodall issued the following statement in support of its passage.

(Lawrenceville, GA) – Last Saturday, Rep. Rob Woodall (GA 07) joined the Georgia delegation at Dobbins Air Reserve Base for the annual Academy Day kick off of a new nomination season, and on Wednesday he hosted a reception for the 7th District students he nominated last year who were subsequently accepted and received appointments. They will soon begin their time at America’s Service Academies, but first they celebrated with family during a visit with the Congressman.

(Duluth, GA) – Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce presented Seventh District Representative Rob Woodall with the Spirit of Enterprise Award in recognition of his pro-economic growth voting record fostering small business and entrepreneurship. Each year the Chamber tracks Members of Congress on key votes to the business community, and Woodall has become a perennial recipient of the award with the highest percentage ranking of the entire Georgia delegation.
