2016 Congressional Art Competition
Congressman Thomas Massie is inviting students from the 4th Congressional District to participate in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition.
Each spring, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor The Artistic Discovery Contest, a nation-wide high school arts competition, to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district.
The Artistic Discovery Contest is open to all high school students in the 4th District. The over-all winner of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other contest winners nation-wide.
Interested students should submit one original piece of two-dimensional work, which should be no bigger than 28” x 28” x 4” when framed. Entries can be submitted to Congressman Massie’s office in Crescent Springs.

The art work may be:
- Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor
- Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
- Collage
- Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
- Mixed Media
- Computer Generated Art
- Photography
All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution.
Entries for the Congressional Art Competition can be submitted between now and April 11, 2016.
The winner will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. for the unveiling of their work, which will hang in the Capitol complex for the next year.
The U.S. House of Representatives has been spotlighting the nation’s best student artists with an annual art competition since 1982. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
The competition is open only to high school students who reside in the Kentucky 4th Congressional District or who are eligible to attend public high school in that district. Students can find out which congressional district their home or school is in at http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/.
