Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) will host his annual Academy Day on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Lexington.  All students, parents, and school officials from the Sixth Congressional District are invited to attend and learn more about the nomination process to the United States Service Academies.  Representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and the University of Kentucky Army and Air Force ROTC programs have been invited to participate.

Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) announced the winners of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition.  Samuel Jolly of Nicholas County High School was the overall winner for his piece, “Where My Story Begins.”  Jolly’s work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol building for one year along with winners from each Congressional district.

Congressman Andy Barr (KY-6) announced the winners of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition.  Brad Praria of Woodford County High School was the overall winner for his piece, “Natural Bridge.”  Praria’s work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol building for one year along with winners from each Congressional district.

Congressman Andy Barr (KY-6) today announced the Congressional Art Competition which is open to all high school students in the Sixth District.  The overall winner will have his or her work displayed in the United States Capitol for the next year.  It will represent the Sixth Congressional District of Kentucky among hundreds of pieces from other congressional districts throughout the county.  The winner will also be invited to come see their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol.

The third installment of the Congressional Youth Ambassador Program was recently held at Eastern Kentucky University, with a focus on education and team building.  Congressman Barr’s non-partisan program selects junior and senior high school student leaders from across the Sixth Congressional District to attend sessions as an ambassador on their school’s behalf. 

On September 17, 2014, the National Federation of Independent Business, an advocacy association which gives small-business owners on Main Street a voice in public policy-making, announced that they have named Congressman Barr a "Guardian of Small Business" for his outstanding voting record on behalf of America’s small-business owners in the 113th Congress.

The Office of Congressman Andy Barr is seeking high school juniors and seniors to apply for the Sixth Congressional District’s Youth Ambassador Program. The Youth Ambassador Program is a non-partisan, educational experience designed for high school students that provides a unique opportunity to learn about leadership from leaders across Kentucky while serving as an ambassador for their school.

LEXINGTON – Congressman Andy Barr announced today that his office will host a Military Academy Day for Sixth District students interested in applying to one of the nation’s service academies.  The event will be held on Saturday, September 13th at the Aviation Museum of Kentucky from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with registration beginning at 9:30 AM.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Barr (KY-6) announced today that seven young men and women in the Sixth Congressional District that have received appointment offers to four of the United States Service Academies.
