Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) will host his annual Academy Day on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Lexington.  All students, parents, and school officials from the Sixth Congressional District are invited to attend and learn more about the nomination process to the United States Service Academies.  Representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and the University of Kentucky Army and Air Force ROTC programs have been invited to participate.

A Congressional Caseworker from the office of Congressman Andy Barr (KY-6) will visit Winchester on Friday June 26, 2015.  The caseworker will be available to help residents of Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District to who are having problems dealing with a federal agency such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Social Security, Medicare, passports and visas through the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or the Internal Revenue Service.

The caseworker will be available to meet with constituents at the following time and location:

WASHINGTON – After being sworn in to the 114th Congress, Congressman Andy Barr supported passage of H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act, which exempts veterans already enrolled in healthcare plans through the Department of Defense or the VA from being counted toward the employee limit under the Affordable Care Act.  As an original cosponsor who helped introduce this legislation, Barr released the following statement applauding theHouse passing H.R. 22 with unanimous support:

WASHINGTON – Legislation to provide relief from over-burdensome federal regulations that threaten the continued operation of the Valley View Ferry is headed to the President’s desk following bipartisan support from both houses of Congress. 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (KY), joined Representatives Ed Whitfield (KY-01) and Andy Barr (KY-06) today in meeting with Postmaster General Patick Donahoe to discuss important postal issues related the consolidation of the mail processing facilities in Lexington and Paducah, and other pressing concerns the impact of their consolidation will have on Kentucky jobs, and postal service standards.

On September 17, 2014, the National Federation of Independent Business, an advocacy association which gives small-business owners on Main Street a voice in public policy-making, announced that they have named Congressman Barr a "Guardian of Small Business" for his outstanding voting record on behalf of America’s small-business owners in the 113th Congress.

The Office of Congressman Andy Barr is seeking high school juniors and seniors to apply for the Sixth Congressional District’s Youth Ambassador Program. The Youth Ambassador Program is a non-partisan, educational experience designed for high school students that provides a unique opportunity to learn about leadership from leaders across Kentucky while serving as an ambassador for their school.
