The Mississippi River is the most important waterway in the United States. 30 states and 3 Canadian provinces are connected to the Mississippi River or its tributaries and depend upon the River to access foreign markets.

More than 1,800 deep-draft cargo vessels travel along the river each year.  For every $1 we invest in deepening and maintaining the Mississippi River, we see an $89 return. Investing in our waterways is not just a Louisiana or Lower Mississippi River issue – it’s a national issue.
